The Last Lecture

I chose 'The Last Lecture' because I find the story interesting and appealing. It is very saddening to know that you are not going to live long and is very hard to do all the things you want to do in that short period of time. If I were the author, I would find it very difficult to make a decision. I liked how the author was so sure of what to do and who to spend time with. I also liked how the author was optimistic towards the whole thing.

I am still young so, to achieve childhood dreams is a bit impossible. However, this is the stage where everyone must dare to dream, in order to ' achieve our childhood dreams' in the later years. I believe we can dream any kind of dreams, after all , we are still children. In fact, I think that the more ridiculous or challenging your dream is, the harder you would want to work towards it and in the process, learn a lot of things you thought you would never learn.

I was a bit shocked when he said that he was giving the lecture partly because of his children. I could tell that he really did not want his children to forget him. He also mentioned that the lecture was kind of like a lifetime of lessons a father would teach to his child/children compressed into just a short one two hours. His love for his children was sincere, strong and really deep. It is a blessing to have such a father.

I&E: an unexpected success and an unexpected failure

Success:

Mcdonald's would not have gone global if not for Ray Kroc.
Dick and Mac Mcdonald opened the first Mcdonald's oulet in San Bernardino, California. It was the only outlet then. The restaurant become very popular and long queues never seemd to shorten.To cope with the overwhelming orders, the Mcdonalds bought a huge number of milkshake mixers. Ray Kroc, still a one time milkeshake mixer salesman then,was curious to why they needed that many milkshake mixers and went to take a look. A while later,after a deal with the McDonald brothers , he took over Mcdonald's and made it to what it is now .

Failure:

The fall of Singapore to the Japanese is an unexpected failure to the British.For a start, they underestimated the Japanese, thinking they would not get through the thick jungles and reach Singapore but they did, with the help of bicycles. Next, when the Japanese did managed to attack Singapore, the British panicked, thus they did not noitce the numeral advantage of one to three, if they had , there would probably be no Japanese Occupation at all!

I feel that working in a team is much less taxing than woking alone. i am glad to have been a part of this team as the team members were very cooperative and arguments were kept to the minimal.
